What Is The Difference Between Main Shaft And Output Shaft?

Mar 17, 2025|

The main difference between a spindle and an output shaft lies in their purpose, construction, and mode of motion.
1. Different uses:
Spindle: It is mainly used to support and drive tools to rotate, and is an important component of mechanical equipment. For example, in mechanical equipment such as machine tools and robots, the spindle rotates through motor, hydraulic, pneumatic and other driving methods, with high speed and rotation accuracy.
Output shaft: mainly used for outputting mechanical equipment products or energy. There are many types of output shafts, such as power output shafts, input-output shafts, coaxial output shafts, etc. Their main function is to output the power or products generated by mechanical equipment to the outside.
2. Different constructions:
Spindle: requires high rotational accuracy and speed, so more precise technology is needed in design and manufacturing. The types of spindles include electric spindles, hydraulic spindles, electromechanical spindles, electronic spindles, etc.
Output shaft: It needs to have strong load-bearing capacity and transmission capacity, and when designing and manufacturing, more attention should be paid to its structural strength and transmission capacity.
3. Different modes of exercise:
Spindle: Usually driven by a drive system to rotate the tool in one direction.
Output shaft: In the output process of mechanical equipment, its motion mode may include various forms such as unidirectional rotation, bidirectional rotation, etc.
